Breeders are listed below the breed description.
Xoloitzcuintli
My breed dates back to the 17th century when my ancestors were taken to South America by Chinese traders. The Aztec Indians called us “Biche”, which meant naked.
They used us for various purposes, including hunting, medicinal purposes, and even food. lt is an ancient belief that my breed has valuable and mysterious healing powers for arthritis and many other ailments, but I cannot personally attest to that fact.
I am a good watch dog and a pleasant companion, but I need a special kind of owner who can relate to me and my “differences”.
My coat doesn’t need any elaborate grooming, of course, since I don’t have any hair. But, my skin does require daily attention to keep it soft and healthy.
When fully grown, I am between 13 and 23 inches tall (33 to 58.4 centimeters).
