Shih Tzu
My ancestors were descendents of the temple dogs of Tibet and were honored to have been presented as gifts to many important people in China, where the Shih Tzu breed was refined and perfected. My family became very popular in China and was greatly admired by the nation’s emperor.
Of course, I am not at all surprised. I am lively, good-natured and people-oriented, in addition to being very physically attractive. Put all of that in a small package and it adds up to instant popularity.
My long coat needs regular brushing to keep it from matting, but I don’t need a big yard -- I’d stay in the house with you most of the time unless we went out for a walk or a ride in the car.
When fully grown, I am between 8 and 11 inches tall (20.3 to 27.9 centimeters) and I weigh between 9 and 16 pounds (4 to 7.2 kilograms).
