Many say that I am a smaller version of the ancient Tibetan Dog, and perhaps you have heard that Tibetans produced “the most beautiful women and the worst-tempered dogs”.

Of course, I needed that temperament in order to do my job properly. It is difficult to ask a hungry wolf, nicely, if he would mind going about his way and leaving your sheep alone!! My thick corded, matted coat came in handy to help pad and protect me from the wolves who didn’t take me up on my offer to leave peacefully.

I don’t guard many sheep these days, but I still favor the great outdoors where I have room to check into all of the interesting sites and sounds of nature.

Maintenance of my coat is a bit much if I am to be allowed in your clean house on a regular basis, so only a truly dedicated Puli lover would take that on.

Being outdoors most of the time is just great with me, though. You can come out and play anytime.

When fully grown, I am between 14 and 19 inches tall (35.6 to 48.3 centimeters) and I weigh between 20 and 40 pounds (9 to 18 kilograms).
