My breed arrived in Great Britain in the early 1700’s, but was already well known in both France and Italy at that time.
As firearms became more powerful, so came the need for a faster and stouter hunting dog. My exceptional desire to hunt, combined with my nose, size and speed make me one of the best and most efficient of all the sporting breeds.
Any Pointer lover will tell you that my disposition is even, my personality is agreeable, and my intelligence and trainability are second to none.
When fully grown, I am between 22 and 28 inches tall (55.9 to 71.1 centimeters) and I weigh between 45 and 75 pounds (20.3 to 33.8 kilograms).
