Norwegian Lundehund

I am also known as the Norwegian Puffin Dog and I am one of the rarest breeds in the world.

My family originated in Vaerog, an island off the coast of Norway. Lundehunds were developed for the specific task of hunting the puffin bird, which could only be caught by reaching into tight, small crevices in the rocks.

You might think that I am just a regular dog from the way I look in my picture, but that isnít the case at all -- I have some very unique and interesting features.

For starters, I have a double- jointed neck that allows me to turn my head a full 180 degrees. If that isnít enough, I have six toes on each foot and my ears are closeable. Well, I know that all dogs have ears that WILL close, but I mean that I can close them by myself.

I am also pretty stout for my size, but I am not aggressive. I am very intelligent and quick to learn, and as the need for puffin bird extractors is quite limited these days, I am thinking seriously of becoming a household pet.

When fully grown, I am between 12 and 16 inches tall (30.5 to 40.6 centimeters) and I weigh about 13 pounds (5.9 kilograms).
