Norfolk Terrier

My breed was originally called Norwich Terrier, but was recognized as the Norfolk Terrier in Britain in 1964. The United States did not sanction us until sometime in 1979.

My ancestors came from England and I have Cairn Terrier, Border Terrier and Irish Terrier in my history.

The only difference between me and my cousin, the Norwich Terrier, is our ears. My ears drop down and fold over, and the Norwich's ears stand up straight. We both have the same body type otherwise, and our personalities are almost identical.

My coat is hard and wiry and it needs brushing, even for just around the house. If I am going to be in a show or have my picture made, you'll need to trim me just a bit.

I am sociable and cuddly, but I am not afraid of much. I'll let you know when there are strangers about.

I'm not fussy with little kids, though, so I make a good household pet.

When fully grown, I am between 10 and 10.5 inches tall (25.4 to 26.7 centimeters) and I weigh between 11 and 12 pounds (5 to 5.4 kilograms).
